The soft wood is nicely aged
and the seller I purchased it from bought it in the early 1980s at auction from Eldred's on Cape Cod
with the three boards on top I might guess cut down from something else with the paint already on them
which make it easy to imagine the artist standing in this particular spot
and the other a square with scalloped and ink decorated corners
