and the wonderfully bold black that follows the incised lines around wings

This one, which likely dates to the 30s or 40s, is made of wood and hand painted a dark green and red. It is in near perfect condition and could be put to use once again, though I'd probably set it in an arrangement of objects or hang it somewhere and am rather fantasizing about a whole wall
