Whoever made him was skilled and took great care--he Is beautifully constructed of this terrific red striped linen

presumed mid- to late-19th century

but finally deciphered the signature on the bottom to realize it is by George Kills Pretty Enemy (Pte San Hoksila)

Please see detailed photos for specific examples of wear to the basket--there are a couple of tiny broken stitches along the top edge of the lid and there is a bit of wear to the cedar bark

There is a label glued to the bottom of one indicating that it is based on the 1863 C
